About Under the Flight Path
Under the Flight Path started as a weekly email for the Inner West — a Friday roundup of what's actually worth doing between Annandale and Marrickville, Balmain and Newtown. No SEO listicles, no recycled press releases: every edition is put together by someone who lives here and goes to these things.
The name comes from the flight paths that criss-cross the Inner West on their way to and from Sydney Airport — a shared, slightly absurd backdrop to daily life here that felt like the right note for a newsletter with a sense of humour about the neighbourhood it covers.
What you get every Friday
- Markets, festivals, and one-off events happening that weekend
- New openings — cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops worth knowing about
- Free and low-cost things to do with kids, dogs, and visiting friends
- The occasional deep dive when something in the Inner West deserves one
Who's behind it
Under the Flight Path is written and edited independently, with a small network of locals feeding in tips, event submissions, and the odd correction. It's also the home of The Inner West Black Book, our neighbour-recommended directory of local tradies and businesses.
